- 1987 Write From The Start. Oliver & Boyd. Six illustrated pupils' books and two teachers' books to help children become competent writers. The books break away from traditional, narrow teaching methods and redefine writing as everything from a list to a letter to a project. The purpose is to make writing a challenge - and fun.

- 2004 Scottish Arts Council award to publish Wild On Her Blue Days, an anthology of prose and poetry by unpublished writers who attended classes and workshops facilitated by Lynn Michell and Helen Boden.
- 2006 ScotlandUnLtd award to set up a community press The Linen Press which will open the door for unpublished women writers who may find it difficult to place their work with mainstream publishers.
- 2006-2007 Short-listed for the Robert Louis Stevenson Award for novel in progress.
- 2007-2008 Short-listed for the Robert Louis Stevenson Award for new novel In Nairobi.
