The Device, The Devil and Me by Stephanie Taylor

The Device, The Devil and Me

Synopsis

Lauren Walker has been keeping one hell of secret: she is possessed by the Devil.

Fear of discovery has forced Lauren to be a model citizen with strict, self-imposed rules. She must be ultra good and kind and must avoid church at all costs. But in her mid twenties, she succumbs to the pressure of living so many lies and finds release in body dismorphia and self-harm.

Lauren decides, bravely, that it is time to confront her demons and to call upon her family and friends for support, but just as she is about to reveal the truth, her mother, Joyce, divulges a secret of her own, forcing Lauren to put her own problems on hold.

The Device, The Devil and Me is an original, quirky, surprising novel which engages readers in an emotional journey of dizzy highs and heart-breaking lows. Stephanie Taylor writes about serious, contemporary issues with such audacity, bravado and black humour that you won’t know whether to laugh or cry. The finale is a triumph.
